POST OP PATIENTS
SURGERY REHAB
Are you a patient who is undergoing surgery?
Perhaps you’re having a cruciate ligament reconstruction, or maybe a hip replacement?
- Maybe you’re about to undertake surgery to make your shoulder more stable?
We understand that surgery can be a daunting process for some, and we know that you want to make the very best recovery, so you can get back to doing what you love.
SO WHAT MAKES FOR A GREAT RECOVERY?
Firstly, team work
We believe in a multidiscplinary team approach for our patients, with excellent communication between all of us. The team includes you, your surgeon, the physiotherapist, a massage therapist, a strength and conditioning coach, and also input from a nutritionist and sports psychologist too, if needed.
We use tools (such as Microsoft Teams) to communicate and to track your progress, and you’ll have a constantly updated record of what’s happening, when. Your care will be ‘concierged’ so that you can be confident that all the rehab steps are happening in a well co-ordinated manner.
COMMITMENT TO DOING THE WORK
Yes, there’s going to be some effort required on your behalf, but we’ll support and encourage you all the way to ensure you don’t lose momentum.
We’ll ensure you stay on track, and we can respond and adapt to any ‘bumps in the road’.
SKILLS AND TOOLS
Our extensive experience of working in elite sport means we have skills and tools above and beyond that which you may have experience with previous therapists.
You’ll have a tailored programme (rehab isn’t one-size-fits-all), and when needed we’ll use blood flow restriction training, Winback TECAR therapy, as well as ViMove sensor-base monitoring to analyse your movement and gait.
PROGRESSION THAT’S BASED ON PERFORMANCE CRITERIA, NOT TIME
One of the reasons patients find themselves struggling to return to sport after surgery, is that their rehab progression was based on time landmarks, and not performance criteria.
For example if you’ve gone through an ACL reconstruction, and you’re not yet able to achieve full knee extension, or perform a hop test adequately, then you’re not yet ready to run. Many physios
We’ll be tracking your strength and taking regular measurements to ensure you’re ready to progress to the next stage of your rehab.
HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER
Whilst we can provide ad-hoc physiotherapy, if you’re undergoing surgery, we recommend a total care package which is our 12 week recovery programme. You’ll receive 12 weeks of all the care that you need for a great recovery, with no extra costs. Read more about the 12 week recovery programme.
We help patients to recover from all kinds of surgery including:
- Meniscal surgery
- ACL reconstruction
- Hip replacement
Rotator cuff repair and shoulder decompression
